Glen Scotia
Scotland
Single Malt
Glen Scotia's Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery's single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes. This, however, is the Victoriana Cask Strength expression. It's obvious what the difference here is - it's bottled at cask strength, a robust 54.2% ABV, which helps bolster those aforementioned roasty-toasty notes.
Elegantly oak-y, with notes of toasty sugar and citrus peels.
More fruit forward on the nose, with dark berry juiciness at its core.
Orchard fruits dusted with dark chocolate.
Add this to tobermory 12, and clynelish 14. In equal parts. Leave your impressions.
A really exceptional whisky for its price. Purchased this bottle in April and now in October it's become a firm favourite, I don't have the kind of palate that can pick out every flavour within one tasting but it manages to be sweet and fresh, with good complexity that really opens up with a few drops of water. Chocolate notes in the finish with toasted sugar up front, even my other half really likes it. I don't have many whiskies that I would consider worthy of buying repeatedly, but this absolutely is.
Tried a miniature and was impressed. Needs water imo, but opens up nicely. At this price I've not found a malt that keeps coming back after swallowing. A long warming finish. Love the flavour, I think excellent for the price.
Absolutely wonderful, a variety of flavours and a tingling at the back of the throat, what more would you want.
Wow thus is good stuff! Being eyeing for a while after reading reviews and seeing it won awards. Normally go for peaty whisky but wanted to try something different. This is a pleasure to drink from first sip to last drop. I'm not a whisky expert by any means, but you won't be disappointed. I'm looking to buy a couple more, but working out how to hide it from the wife!
