Glen Scotia
Scotland
Single Malt
Glen Scotia's Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery's single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes. This, however, is the Victoriana Cask Strength expression. It's obvious what the difference here is - it's bottled at cask strength, a robust 54.2% ABV, which helps bolster those aforementioned roasty-toasty notes.
Elegantly oak-y, with notes of toasty sugar and citrus peels.
More fruit forward on the nose, with dark berry juiciness at its core.
Orchard fruits dusted with dark chocolate.
A very pleasant surprise. Toasted oak & sharp green apples on the nose, developing into blueberries & Cox’s Orange Pippin apples on a smooth palate and long finish with a dollop of dark chocolate. Mmm…
Heard about this on a podcast so got one out of curiosity , £70+ for me always needs to be really special and this was very complex and moreish, it only really struck me how good it was when it ran out, but I will almost certainly Be getting another very soon, I did add just a touch of water to this, stretched it a little and made it incredibly Smooth
One of my favourite malts. Just needs a splash of water to open up.
This ticks all the boxes - an amazing whisky.
Balanced, rich, slightly peated, definitely recommend :) Good value
