Glen Scotia
Scotland
Single Malt
Glen Scotia's Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery's single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes. This, however, is the Victoriana Cask Strength expression. It's obvious what the difference here is - it's bottled at cask strength, a robust 54.2% ABV, which helps bolster those aforementioned roasty-toasty notes.
Elegantly oak-y, with notes of toasty sugar and citrus peels.
More fruit forward on the nose, with dark berry juiciness at its core.
Orchard fruits dusted with dark chocolate.
A good quality dram, with an interesting flavour that does stimulate the taste buds and certainly lingers. But at nearly 70 quid it’s a tad overpriced in my opinion. If this was £40-45 I would recommend it, but I just can’t taste £70 worth of value here and there are far more impressive drams available at this price point.
