Classic Campbeltown single malt matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before a finishing period spent in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. A wonderful introduction to the delights of this great distillery, and frankly just a great whisky with a pleasing toffee core and rich depth.
Vibrant fruit emerges first (peach flesh and green apple peels), followed by chewy vanilla fudge, a hint of salinity, then an array of oak-y spices including some char.
Opens with more fudge with a little dusting of powdered sugar. Powerful, oily and a touch herbaceous with some German brandy character.
Sherried notes come through more on the finish.

I have friends who are not big on whisky but GS changes their mind and opinions. I think it is an exceptional whisky and wholeheartedly endorse it
A sweet finish on this strong and spicy whiskey, nice straight or with a tiny spot of water , heartburn inducing for those who prefer smoother blended whiskey
A real surprise. Wonderful dram for a double cask finish as opposed to a full maturation
An excellent whisky full of flavour and character. hints of sweetness on the tongue at first taste with a warm maritime sensation afterwards. Surprised with the price as I would have expected to pay more for this.
Many Scotchs claim to have a "Maritime " character. The briny flavor of this reminds me of the sea breeze at the beach I take my daily walk on - like it was aged in a cask stored in the hold of an old sailing ship. And the 46% ABV gives you an extra bang for your buck. I wouldn't marry this one, but I wouldn't kick her out of bed, either!
