The central, and entry level release in the Elgin Classic range from Glen Moray distillery. Very easy to drink, this stuff offers up hints of soft citrus and barley.
Light, fresh. Grist. Nutty, floral. Dried grass. Slightly fruity.
Oak, gentle. Well balanced, walnut, grist. Citrus, lemon sponge.
Tangy citrus, spicy fruitcake.

Caramel colour does have a flavour, a slight hint of something like stewed tea/ old tea bags. You generally taste it in the finish.
And just one more thing.... It's whisky. No E, just whisky. If you're going to comment on something, at least get the basics right before you start. And my subject line is a wee joke....
Why oh why do people insist they can taste the caramel in whisky? It's a colouring, not a flavouring. Jeez!
I don't get the complaints this is good whisky I have tried them all I like this better than Glenlivet12.
At the moment this can be found in some UK supermarkets for 18 GBP a bottle, only a fraction more than ordinary blends. You can't expect too much at this price, but it's a light, easy-drinking whisky, and very pleasant indeed. As an everyday malt, it's economical enough to drink without guilt. I think it's an absolute bargain.
