The central, and entry level release in the Elgin Classic range from Glen Moray distillery. Very easy to drink, this stuff offers up hints of soft citrus and barley.
Light, fresh. Grist. Nutty, floral. Dried grass. Slightly fruity.
Oak, gentle. Well balanced, walnut, grist. Citrus, lemon sponge.
Tangy citrus, spicy fruitcake.

I liked it, it wasn't ancient magic in a bottle, it wasn't extreme deep and rich, but it was nice, light and refreshing. Almost a wine quality on the nose, grassy citrus on the tongue. But when I saw the price, only $25 a bottle, I was offended and betrayed. It was drinkable until I saw it was inexpensive, now I'd rate 0/10 stars. I'm classier than most people, so I only drink $50 and up single malts, (but I only drink $100 and up if people are watching).
Glen Moray have a slight marketing issue with this loveley little dram. It is,quite rightly, sold, packaged and advertised as a Speyside Single Malt. No argument there. If you're looking for a 15 year old Glenlivet then forget it. Glen Moray is a non age statement single malt at a budget price. I buy it in my local store for £19. At this price it comes in well under most premium brand blends. It's a young, refreshing single malt with no pretentions at all. Clean, citrus and vanilla predominate but there is no grain whisky dullness to muddy the experience. As a wine drinker I would liken it to a Beaujolais Nouveau. If Glen Moray marketed it as such it would generate a great following. Let it open in the glass for 10 minutes then add a drop of water. You won't be let down. I love this dram.
I really enjoy Glen Moray - I drink a lot of single malts, and am certainly always happy to pick this up. Can be found at a real bargain price, but don't let that put you off. A smooth flavour, & I find a pretty gentle finish (which doesn't lead to heartburn as some can!). Give it a whirl, especially if a 'first timer'
Don't listen to these fools with the low ratings! This may be the best bargain in single malts. Not complex to be sure but great balance and taste. A sweet easy-drinker. One of my favorites and I've had many at many price points! Also note - this dram much better than the disappointing Glen Moray 16yo.
Just as in music, I am not a "one note billy". I enjoy a range of music and Single Malts depending on my mood and season. Also there is price. At $21.90 at my shopping mart, this whisky is worth every penny. I enjoy its crisp citris and lemony flavors on ice with a splash of water. It's young, but when I don't want a heavier malt with a long finish, this has its place. I really like the 12 yr old, especially for it's banana flavors. Glen Moray, in all of it's expressions is priced right and unique among Speyside malts.
