Glen Moray
Scotland
Single Malt
A peaty expression joins Glen Moray's Classic range! Reasonably laid-back for a peated expression, but by no means lazy, this Speyside single malt Scotch whisky balances peaty whiffs with plenty of vanilla, and some fragrant elements as some of the distillery's usual character makes its way through. One for those newer to peaty whisky, as well as peat fans, and great value.
Familiar peat smoke off the bat, with characteristic butteriness developing.
Smoke never gets too intense, but plays a central role alongside vanilla and orchard fruit.
A little bit peppery, though still enjoyably sweet.

C.: Bright golden N.: Light and fresh in the beginning, citrus notes, late sandalwood incense and chemicals (floor maintenance). A hint of white pepper and tobacco ash, too. P.: A surprisingly robust and solid entrance for 40%, nifty peat, brown sugar and bitter lemon, burnt wooden embers. F.: Long and moreish, like having smoked a good cigar. Conc.: Solid and simple as a good peated Highlands malt should be. Can't really compete with Islay drams (not as complex), but, hey, I think it doesn't want to.

Great treat if your after a peated whiskey, I didn't expect it to be so peated. Almost Laphroaig/Ardbeg level. Great stuff :)
Received as a gift. Was not impress with its colour and bottle design. When I opened it. Super Surprise. It has a good nose. 1st sip - Slightly smokey, good variety of notes. (Too) Sweet aftertaste. About 60% smoothness. Very nice. Suits my taste very well. When I found out the actual price. It’s really very good value for money. Ordered 3 more bottles.
Nice single malt and a real bargain at the price. Good choice for those looking to try varieties of Scotland's whisky. This is NOT for the water it down and mix with cola crowd!
