Glen Moray Peated - Elgin Classic

A peaty expression joins Glen Moray's Classic range! Reasonably laid-back for a peated expression, but by no means lazy, this Speyside single malt Scotch whisky balances peaty whiffs with plenty of vanilla, and some fragrant elements as some of the distillery's usual character makes its way through. One for those newer to peaty whisky, as well as peat fans, and great value.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Familiar peat smoke off the bat, with characteristic butteriness developing.

    Palate

Smoke never gets too intense, but plays a central role alongside vanilla and orchard fruit.

    Finish

A little bit peppery, though still enjoyably sweet.

Another pleasant surprise from Speyside for peat lovers

The perfect whisky for a cold night with the right amount of peat finishing quickly!

    A nice touch of peat

As others have said a good whisky for the price with a nice touch of peat.

I agree with the review below

By no means my best or favourite whisky in my cupboard but not at all bad. When you can get it on offer at the supermarket for £20 at times its worth it. Exactly as it says on the bottle it is lightly Peated but enough that you know it's there, it's very easy to drink and goes down well. A good bottle to have when you feel like a dram and don't want to break out your best stuff.

    Very good

At £20 in the supermarkets when on offer this is a very good price. It is relatively basic and young but every element is good and at £20 I would say great! I've had 3 bottles now and will continue to pick these up when available at £20 to have in for drinking good whisky but not needing to raid my limited stocks of more expensive whiskies every time I want to find the wife more attractive. The difference between this and some £30-£35 Islay bottles (comparing due to being a peated offering) does not justify the 50-75% increase in price where price is a consideration. Where price isn't being considered there are better whiskies to be had but this is a mainstay for me whilst the price remains low. That being said I wouldn't pay £35 for this whisky...

    Nice

A good whisky, but for me this is not what Glen Moray does best. Lacks clout. For the money, I'd definitely go with the GM Chardonnay cask.
