Glen Moray Peated - Elgin Classic

A peaty expression joins Glen Moray's Classic range! Reasonably laid-back for a peated expression, but by no means lazy, this Speyside single malt Scotch whisky balances peaty whiffs with plenty of vanilla, and some fragrant elements as some of the distillery's usual character makes its way through. One for those newer to peaty whisky, as well as peat fans, and great value.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Familiar peat smoke off the bat, with characteristic butteriness developing.

    Palate

Smoke never gets too intense, but plays a central role alongside vanilla and orchard fruit.

    Finish

A little bit peppery, though still enjoyably sweet.

Compare favourably with my old fave Ardmore

Great value for money - balanced, slightly funky, but with depth in the delivery and quite lengthy finish. Water sparingly.

    Bring it back!

The review of 26.10.18 says it all. Great value, well balanced, lingers well. Not as pronounced as Laphroaig of course, but still a great peat flavour. If you don't like smoky whisky, leave a negative review. Each to their own! By the way, why can't I find it in the shops any more?

    BUY IT !

I dont agree with the guy from 12 June 2019 ( Peated? Well, if you say so. Perhaps too subtle for me. If you like a real smokey dram this isn't it.) You can not compare this one with Ardbeg 10 or Caol Ila 12 or Laphroaig 10 etc. But the peat smoke is definitely there. Sure this is a young whisky, but nonetheless a very decent and affordable single malt. For the whisky itself I rate it 3,5 stars, with price in mind (I bought a bottle for 16 euro) I give it 5 stars. Highly recommended
