Glen Marnoch - Aldi (yes, Aldi!)'s 24 year old single malt whisky! We tasted this alongside the sterling Glenbridge 40 year old in a tasting led by none other than whisky legend Jim Murray. This was distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2011…
We’re sadly sold out of this, but if you’re after a bottle of Scotch then feel free to browse our site single malt whisky.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Red apples, bourbon, gristy, vanilla. Heat brings out more bourbon and rye spice.
Lean, slightly bitter, not a huge deal of depth. An enormous hit of almost Saccharine sweetness before the rye spice develops into a slightly acrid note?
Acrid saccharine turns slightly alkali, and slightly mouth-watering (not in a good way). Becomes really very off-putting at the death.
Even when added to cola or Fanta the TCP notes still overpower the taste.
Tastes just like TCP it’s gross!!
Tastes like glue. Absolutely disgusting
Started learning about whiskey and finally opened this bottle. It’s incredible smooth and that about it. No robust notes in taste or smell
Appologise for this for two reasons. Bought the 8 yo from aldi but couldn't see where to post review for this. Also, I don't like giving negative reviews. But this is one of the most unpleasant whiskeys I've had. Seriously unpleasant. Bought for a Christmas treat for myself. Perhaps it will kill the covid virus.
