    Single Malt

    Glen Grant 10 Year Old

A great beginner's whisky right here from the Glen Grant Distillery, produced in tall pot stills. This 10 year old Speyside single malt, having spent a decade in bourbon casks, boasts oodles of light, malty notes. A top dram for warmer weather.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Medium. Vanilla, toffee apple. Herbal, hint of smoke.

    Palate

Firm. Sweetness, fruity, vanilla. Gentle peat, malty.

    Finish

    Dry, supple peat, toffee.

A great whisky, but not at this age.....

Apples and pears on the nose; rich, fresh barley sugar on the tongue; short, hot finish. The flavour profile of this malt is not dissimilar to many a favoured Speysider, and the quality of the still-signature is unquestionable, unfortunately the overriding impression of this malt is that of an immature spirit that would benefit from many more years in the cask to round off its inherent roughness and develop its complexity (which is probably why G&M's 50 and 60 year old expressions are so widely revered). At this age and price, there are many better alternatives.

    Worth every penny.

A very nice whisky indeed, and for £30 for a 10 year old single malt as nice as this one is a steal. Lovely drink.

    Great quality

Pine colour. Vanilla and marzipan on the nose which is quite pleasant. Creamy and light on the palate with flavours of toffee and pineapple then comes the oak. The finish is pleasant with apple and pear notes omnipresent. A sterling whisky.

    A point of view.

Very nice and smooth, fruity, vanilla and all that it should be in an understated way - but best whisky ten pounds and under? and with Benriach just round the corner and Benromach just up the road, not to mention Tamdhu a bit further down the way.And then there,s Islay...... .Rest my case.
