Glen Grant
Scotland
Single Malt
A great beginner's whisky right here from the Glen Grant Distillery, produced in tall pot stills. This 10 year old Speyside single malt, having spent a decade in bourbon casks, boasts oodles of light, malty notes. A top dram for warmer weather.
Medium. Vanilla, toffee apple. Herbal, hint of smoke.
Firm. Sweetness, fruity, vanilla. Gentle peat, malty.
Dry, supple peat, toffee.
£5.62 - £42.25
This is a bit lame. Finnish is quite long, but has nothing else to offer. Don't buy without tasting it. There are bettter choises at the same age range. (R)
Not much charachter. A bit lame. Pretty long finnish, but othrwise not much to offer. (R)
Awful. Just awful. Better get a decent blend for that price.
Bought this on the basis of Jim Murray's review, and even though we are talking about a cheap 10 year old, I was bitterly disappointed. Bland, with very little going on at all, I really can't understand how anyone can rate this a good whisky at any price.
After reading some of the reviews I thought I would try. I was quite looking forward to giving it a go, now this is a cheap whisky in my eyes so for the price I would say its a good one, in fact you can't really argue at all. A 10year old so I expected something out of the dram. The flavour is OK, there's apple, a sweet texture of honey. Goes does pretty smooth. For me there's not a huge amount going on, but thats not saying its bad at all. The flavours are a quite simplistic, but that actually works in its favour. Does have a nice balanced aftertaste (in fact it's better than I expected but it doesn't blow me away) Overall the price is its best friend. If it was double the price it would really struggle. Being a budget whisky at 10 years you really can't argue. I will definitely be sharing some of this.
