    Single Malt

    Glen Grant 10 Year Old

A great beginner's whisky right here from the Glen Grant Distillery, produced in tall pot stills. This 10 year old Speyside single malt, having spent a decade in bourbon casks, boasts oodles of light, malty notes. A top dram for warmer weather.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Medium. Vanilla, toffee apple. Herbal, hint of smoke.

    Palate

Firm. Sweetness, fruity, vanilla. Gentle peat, malty.

    “Beginner” whisky rant

This whisky is high on my list to buy next, but not tried yet, so no rating. I actually just wanted to chip in and agree with the reviewers who are outraged by the term “beginners whisky”. I actually much preferred Islay whiskies (often referred to as so called “experienced” drinker whiskies) when I was a more inexperienced whisky drinker and just thought “oh nice, smokey”. Now as a more experienced drinker I actually find many Islay whiskies unbalanced, brutish and not particularly well thought through as the blenders do often seem to rely on the peat and smoke to carry the whisky. If that’s your thing, fine. But the terms “beginner” and “experienced” whiskies are a complete misnomer and as the reviewer below says, an utter load of patronising b*llocks.

    Delightful dram

As much as love peat and smoke this is a delightful single malt.

    Dull as a mediocre blend

Soo disappointing. So dull, so little brightness, smooth in boring way. Once tried, forgotten. Sorry for my money.

    Very good, easy sipper

Malty, fruity, strong pears and zesty but just a tad. It is quite similar to Bushmills 10 single malt but smoother towards the end, I prefer it over B10. Minuscule drop of water releases more fragrance but at 40% it's still robust, just don't exaggerate with the water. It's delicious, very good nose, mid finish, what's not to like?

    Smooth like silk

I don’t know about this bottle up there, but i had the glen grant 10 with old bottle design. .. Anyway!! ... If you like to drink a smooth whiskey that you down it like water .. smoother than beer? .. Then this is it! Enjoy!
