Single Malt
Duncan Taylor
Scotland
A tremendous single malt from Glen Elgin, distilled in March 2010 and rested in a single cask for 11 years. This expression was independently bottled by Duncan Taylor in September 2021, releasing a total outturn of 327 bottles at a natural cask strength of 54.8% ABV.
Baked pears in pastry, sweet orange zest with creamy malt balancing oaky spice.
The spice is certainly present with wafts of ginger and cinnamon beside more savoury notes of caraway and black pepper. Orchard fruit sweetness remains with hints of creamy milk chocolate.
Quite floral, aromatic spices remain with a touch of honey, whilst baked fruit balances warming notes of cedar.
Dont add any water to this it will kill it . I initially thought this was nice but now after a few days with it I find it pretty average especially for 80 pounds. Nice sharpness with citrus and ginger biscuits coming from it though but finish seems lackluster.
