A non-age-statement addition to William Grant & Sons growing collection of single grain Scotch whiskies comes in the shape on The Girvan Patent Still No. 4 Apps, which takes its name from the distillery term for 'Apparatus'. No. 4 Apps has been in use at the Girvan distillery in Ayrshire since 1992. The single grain whisky itself spends its maturation in American oak barrels.
Vanilla, light orchard fruits, bubblegum and cherry lips.
Candied citrus peels, icing sugar, vanilla and a hint of oak spice. Foam bananas and a little honey.
Short and sweet with a peppery hint near the end.
Easy to enjoy, if a little sweet. A suitable introduction to single grain whisky for the uninitiated.
I rate this highly bit like green spot picked up three bottles at Waitrose reduced to clear for £35 each very smooth goes well with caramel sea salt truffles five stars
I like Scotch. This is a bit different and I like it too. Not at all sickly sweet as one described below. I thought I tasted smoke with a very smooth, delicate sweetness.
Really like this , Very smooth and enjoyable , My girlfriend who usually does not drink whiskey also likes this Almost looks like a bottle of wine with it's pale appearance very fruity with a summery vibe , Hints of grapefuit & vanilla with a smell like freshly cut grass . Brilliant service by the way , received in less than 24 hours with rapid & friendly communication as usual 10/10
Nose: Vanilla, some nectarines in custard, a little white chocolate and spice. Palate: Sweet vanilla, a little white chocolate and spice in accord with the nose, a hint of oak and Maple syrup. Finish: A fairly abrupt finish in line with previous notes of spice, white chocolate with some saccharin sweetness.
Like Haig Club this is a single grain whisky. Like Haig Ckub it's a bit shit. Lacks the oily used chip fat feel of the Haig but replaces it with sickly sweetness that does nothing to hide the lack of flavour or character, Avoid.
