The 30 year old edition of Girvan single grain Scotch whisky, part of the new range from William Grant and Sons which aims to give grain whisky the respect it deserves. What better way to do that, than with some very, very well aged whisky?
The 30 year old Girvan Patent Still, was matured in American white oak casks for 3 decades before being bottled and elegantly presented. A truly deluxe example of gorgeous grain whisky.
Floral honey, home-made vanilla ice cream, toffee pennies and dried sultanas. Old oak sits at the centre.
Up front we're treated to fried bananas drizzled with honey, juicy peaches and oodles of vanilla. Rich nutty notes follow on, as does spiced oak and Victoria Sponge Cake.
Long and full of all the great stuff that came before, the vanilla and oak standing out amongst it all.
Staggeringly good grain whisky from Girvan.
Not as yet, no. Both the bottle and frame are currently labelled as "2014 Edition". - The Chaps at Master of Malt
