Four Walls Bartender's Blend is the latest venture from Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day. You may know them from a little show called It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, set around a Philly-based Irish bar. And with 15 seasons under their belt, an appreciation for bars, bartending, and Irish-Philadelphia heritage has certainly rubbed off on the trio.
This limited edition blended whiskey is a tribute to all those things, and brings together triple distilled and pot still Irish whiskey, along with some Pennsylvania straight rye. The whiskey, with its complex layers of fruit, silky caramel, and rye spice was made with bartenders in mind, and there are no pretences here. Sip it neat, on the rocks, or mix it into some cracking cocktails!
Measured amounts of rye spice meet creamy vanilla and tropical fruit.
Rich caramel, cherry, and aromatic gingerbread join the aromas from the nose.
Long and sweet.
I bought myself a bottle of this to drink on my wedding day. As a big ‘Always Sunny’, Wrexham FC and whiskey fan, it made sense. I was expecting something similar to Jamesons. For me, it was more like Red Breast and it was great. It’s got a kick like a Japanese mule to boot! Myself and the groomsmen finished the bottle on my wedding night and we’ve got another ready to go for the next occasion. Highly recommend it.
Light colour and a nice sipping drink on a warm evening. Giving it 4/5 as I think the taste is a bit forgettable and there are better (and cheaper) alternatives.
