Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.

I've just joined a Bourbon club and have a half dozen tastings under my bra....er belt. I found this a bit harsh but was able to taste the fruit flavors mentioned in the notes. I am using Angel's Envy as my barometer and have not found anything to date that surpasses it. I'm working on improving my pallet to give fair assessments. The previous comments may reflect the challenge with single barrel bourbon - the fact that each barrel is different. i have just worked through a bottle of RN 3-40 and it was simply sublime. Wonderful warm caramel and vanilla notes with a fairly smooth finish. I have had many a great bourbon at higher prices, but at $30 this is a great value. It's not complex like some of the best higher priced bourbons, but it is smooth and delicious. Can't wait to get more.
I was so dissapointed with this drink its untrue, the aftertaste was too sharp, and the initial bite was too harsh, had it been 46 or 47% rather than 50%abv then perhaps it would have been different. It was smoothe but to be honest the Small Batch had a better taste and a better price tag, I`ll be sticking with that in the future.
I'm sure our Scottish friends would say the same thing if they saw what we pay for their single malts over here as well! But yes, this is a 40-45 dollar whiskey tops. A good one tho.
I've seen it for under $30, it's a great whisky, but this site is wallet rape.
