Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.

Like the Four Roses small batch, so gave this one a try. I agree that there is some kick to it from alcohol and spice, but the initial taste of cherry I get, as well as the fruity and vanilla aroma overrules it. I feel it's best with a large single ice cube and gets better as it melts away. For the price point of $30-35, I don't think you can do much better.
Nice dark fruity notes mingle with butterscotch and smoky finish... The 50% is present but not overwhelming... A terrific sipping bourbon...
I found this bourbon to stay with you - in a good way. Provides a very nice afterglow. Very smooth. Our small tasting group is experienced with a variety of bourbon but now we're about documenting. Our hope is to agree on a benchmark and then get more sophisticated in our ratings.
