Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.

Depends on the barrel "m" is special and "r" is not(I compare everything to Knob Creek). In other words the nose and flavor profile changes with the barrel. Knob or Woodford Reserve Double Oaked doesn't. I know what to expect from them.
Very solid. Love the fruity nose. Wouldnt call it a smooth sipper due to the spicy bite which knocked off a star for me. Definite fruit filled start with some butterscotch on back. I do taste the cocoa also. Oak balanced throughout. I keep some handy for cold nights by the fire.
...but a nearly ideal taste profile for bourbon. I wish it were bottled at cask strength.
I've had a few 100 proof bourbons before yet some seem to be appear a bit overwhelming at times. Four Roses has a great balance of strength and taste and neither is sacrificed. Definitely a great sipping bourbon
For 40.00+\- USD, it is the most balanced, consistent, and satisfying bourbon which remains readily available. Subtle and intoxicating nose, balanced fruit and wood on the palette, and long smoothe finish. Just great.
