Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.
Decent sipper. Fruity, sweet, soft nose, better than average palate and finish. Elijah craig barrel proof is my favorite so I am missing the raw, complex barrel flavors here a little. In all fairness i would definitely buy this again though.
Love it so smooth beautiful taste
This is a solid, well balanced bourbon especially for a single barrel which we all know varies from bottle to bottle. The variances are only subtle and not big enough to make you choose an "m" versus an "r" I'm sorry but it's just too subtle for that and I trust my palate on this and if your palate is that sensitive then i really am sorry for you because each bottle offers something great and there's a lot to enjoy here. I found out recently my grandfather loved this brand after I found myself enjoying it. Just a cool coincidence. Four Roses has had its issues over the years with various owners and now it seems to have found the right people to resurrect a great old brand into the modern era and luckily I've found it and many others have found it again and we are enjoying it now. Please try it especially the single barrel because it is a classic bourbon with subtle differences bottle to bottle and you will enjoy it a lot. Four Roses also offers a "buy a barrel" program which is really just the coolest if you can afford it or go in on a group buy but really just a cool idea and I love when companies do this. Could you imagine InBev doing that for anyone? Not a chance because they're just too big to care about you but Four Roses is really cool enough to do that. Very good, more vanilla than Carmel. Very clean taste. For me it's number two after jack Daniels single barrel.
I'm new to bourbon. My bartender recommended it. Really great taste ... now I'm a fan!
