Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.
I have to agree with the review from back in 2013. The alcohol burn on this over whelmed the flavours for me. They were there, but couldn't appreciate them. Go for a bottle of Elijah 12 which is far better IMHO, incredible flavours and enough alcohol to give the kick you need. Colin G.
YUMMY! Rich pure and damn tasty, a great bourbon.
The fruit aromas are nice and strong. And the 50%abv is too so cutting it really brings out the smooth mellow caramel and sweet corn you expect from a good single barrel.
Is extremely smooth, and really taste the hint of chocolate. Definitely will buy again.
I love this bourbon; higher octane, character, nuanced, rarer flavor profile & something yummy that matters. This is it! My daily among the single malts and exceptional bottled in bond offerings I keep on heavy rotation. Slow down and taste greatness.
