Four Roses founder Paul Jones Jr. became undoubtedly smitten by a beautiful woman who he proposed to. She said she would let him know her answer by attending an evening ball with a four rose corsage. We guess she said yes, since he renamed his entire brand to Four Roses! This Single Barrel 100 Proof bourbon is a rich, plummy and fruity whiskey, and it makes a fantastic Hot Toddy or Kentucky lemonade.
A balanced, rich, fruity nose. Notes of spices and chocolate. Toffee and vanilla.
Tart stone fruits, prunes, spices, morello cherries, cocoa and vanilla.
Oak, chocolate, butterscotch.

Not sharp, unlike many other budget bourbons, yet full of taste - as 50% vol is supposed to be. Let a glass stay on the air for some time, then slight alcohilic and pickle notes will disappear, leaving you with a classical bourbon profile with a chocolate influence and medium-long finish. Unless I get a bad barrel (as some people complain below), this spirit remains in my personal top-10 whiskies list.
Best Single Barrel on the market ..
Had 3 large glasses yesterday with 1 lump of ice. Beautiful. Only a little left in bottle.
my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Got a bad barrel I guess. My logic in going top-shelf and single barrel is that they can't "blend it" and dilute it with inferior barrels, because they have to sell a decent barrel if it's gonna be single barrel. So much for that logic. The Russels Reserve Single barrel is a far superior whiskey which I just compared it to. About 18 months ago I had some Four Roses Single Barrel which I thought at the time was a revelation. Not so this time. I may just dump it down the drain I'd rather have a handle of WT101.
