I've been enjoying Islay malts for 40years. This has it all. One of the best.
Oh man, I opened this one yesterday just to smell and I had concerns for tasting it. After 15 minutes in the glass it still smells awful, like it had been aging in cheap x mas tree casks. I was wondering what it is, but it smell a bit like (cheap) Calvados. And it tastes just the same, and I don't like Calvados. Must say I have a bottle CS at 58% here, slight different maybe. I'm sure I will not have another pour of this one. The previous reviewer already stated that Ardbeg, Lahproaig or Lagavullin don't have anything to fear. Well, I guess nobody has anything to fear from this one.
...of course not. What are you mad! But it is hard to fault the price of this Islay Single Malt. I score it an 8 but the price factors in heavily here.
I tried Finlaggan Malt recently and it was superb but reading previous comments, why would you buy cask strength just to water it down ?? Take it like a man and put hairs on your chest :-)
