One of four new Fettercairn expressions to be launched in August 2018, the Fettercairn 12 Year Old was intended to embody the distillery’s floral and exotic fruit-driven character. It was matured in American oak bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV.
Refreshing nectarine, white flowers and milk chocolate emerge initially. Black toffee and subtle roasted coffee provide darker notes underneath,
Tropical fruit and sticky Jamaican ginger cake add a sweet and spicy depth which a flicker of bitter herbs and vanilla complement.
Orchard fruits and soft spices linger.
Everyone's taste buds are different and reading the reviews it definitely shows. I tried a sample before purchasing a bottle and it reminded me of my mums bread and butter pudding. It has a light fruity opening with a wonderful slight spice conclusion. I found this really drinkable during the cold winter months. Will probably buy another this winter.
Received as a gift and amazed at the smoothness as previous experiences with this distillery were always best described as slightly ‘rough’. Will certainly buy another.
Full of sweet fruit and vanilla. Sounds like ice cream? You're not far wrong. If it's a challenge your taste buds are after, this isn't it, just a delicious balanced scotch.
"Too minty and light" I'm a licensed Q-grader - different liquid sure - but sensory evaluation of valuable drinks is my job... How you can arrive at a 1 star review of this whisky is almost hilarious were it not for its stupidity. Its 4* incredible value. It flicks ripe pear and caramel hints but with great balance. Top dram
A little spice but not too much and overall some good fruit flavours. A nice dram for the price
