A new name and packaging for the excellent 'Black Grouse' blend sees it become Famous Grouse Smoky Black. Although not mentioned by name anymore, the bottle still features a Tetrao tetrix, otherwise known as a blackcock.
Medium, quite smoky. Solid peat note, rummy sweetness, touch of dry wood.
Medium, balanced. Peat smoke, caramel, spice.
Long, slightly peaty.
Was hoping to find a blend (the cost of malt racks up pretty quickly) with a good dose of peat. Alas, whilst there is nothing wrong with this blend from grouse it doesnae live up to its name. There's a hint of smoke to me but nothing exceptional. Pretty smooth and palatable, but I'm unlikely to buy it again.
Cracking value for money and I really enjoyed it and would definitely buy it again. We all have different tastes judging by the mixed reviews but to describe it as petrol baffled me.
Lovely smoky and maybe dry fruit nose, balanced smokey peat and cereal sweetness flavour. Long peat finish. Great price and nice pour!
Nice easy drinking blended scotch.. Better than most others ive tried.
Bit of a strange one this. I think I like it. You get the smokey taste straight away but then nothing. Not much of a finish. Its easy to drink, cheap, not one for special occasions. For the price you cant complain.
