    Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky

Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.

A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.

    Palate

Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.

    Finish

    A slightly sweet, malty finish.

    Overall

A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

    Grouse 2024

I absolutely hated grouse when I was young, I had not tried it since the late 90s, I tried it again recently with water no ice, and it now leans more towards the butterscotch than sherry for me, it's not as sweet, there is a citrus that I don't like personally, however it is certainly drinkable and has a nice heavy body for a cheap whisky, it's quite substantial in viscosity, I wouldn't refuse a glass but doubt I would be a regular customer

    Oxidation

I like FG straight out of an unopened bottle, but more than any other whisky, Grouse benefits from Oxidation. I always buy a litre bottle, and pour half into the empty bottle just finished. I leave it for 2 or 3 weeks. The time with some air, softens the whisky wonderfully. A nice whisky with a hard edge, become soft and rounded. Try it, I recommend it. Lovely.

    Really quite good…

I was pleasantly surprized when I reached for a bottle of Famous Grouse in a shop in a remote village in West Cornwall. There was no other whisky on the shelf but to my surprize this enters the palate in a very civilised way and is somewhat reminiscent of Bushmills whiskey which is my usual tipple. There is a second phase dimension of spices and a slight sweetness that make this a seductive proposition…

    An easy evening tipple

Its not single malt, but it isn't meant to be. I've had a bottle of FG in the back of my cabinet for years which remained untouched until I started to read about and understand whisky. I now know that blended whiskies can be enjoyed in their own right, whilst I save my single malts for when I want to be challenged or have time on my hands. As a regular evening tipple which saves me burning through my single malts, FG is great.

Famous Grouse enjoy it any time any place anywhere

My go to sipping on an evening drink, over and above many much more rare and expensive Malts, Blends & Bourbons. Nice warming, relaxing sensations delivers with tastes of malty vanilla a little bit of spice mixed with biscuity & barley.
