Famous Grouse
Scotland
Blended
Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!
This has long been my favourite blended whisky. Reading some of the negative reviews it was striking how inarticulate they all are, verging into crudeness. Perhaps this all says more about the reviewers than about the whisky?
I love it but lately haven't been able to acquire any Grouse in Guernsey, is this new, fresh stock?
I always remembered Famous Grouse as a respected whiskey. Reminds me of when I was a kid. Picked some up in a shop recently... It has a harsh nose which makes it smell like floor cleaning alcohol. It's a real shame. I hope they're not cutting corners in the distillation process... Maybe it was a fake batch. I bought it in 711, Danshui, Taiwan.
Tried it last night first time like it a lot lovely malty taste
The bottle I have now is great value budget sipping whisky. Incredible value when on supermarket offer. It always was great for the money and then seemed to change into something harsh and offensive, so I stopped buying it. Needed some bargain cola mixing whisky and picked one up for old times sake and discovered it's great value straight drinking whisky again! So, inconsistent, but when it's good, for the money, it's great.
