Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

It's so smooth that you don't feel it going down.
Famous Grouse has been my go to blended Scotch for many years.Black Grouse, White Grouse and the regular Famous Grouse have all been stalwart companions here at home, at our summer home in Maine and most memorably on the tailgate after a long day of hunting woodcock and grouse here in New England. Perhaps it is my imagination, but has there been a change in the way the whisky is blended? Am I the only one thinking what I am buying now is not the same as what I was getting in years past? It seems there is more heat and an odd and not very pleasant bitterness to the finish and the way it feels on the back of the tongue?? Has anyone else noticed a change or is it just me?
A Grouse drinker since 1985, I have placed it in every restaurant I frequent in Dallas and Vail, Colorado, with good results beyond my pleasure! I have retired, but spend almost half the year in the Vail Valley, and have told my wife that if you'd like to bring the Famous Grouse to #1 I would volunteer to take on the other brands. Not even close but I could blow Johnny Walker away with a good effort. You are the best.
First things first, I just want to say that this is excellent value for money. Can be drank neat easily, very palatable. The tasting notes by Master of Malt is spot on, very creamy and heavy bodied for a inexpensive blend. This is a highland style blend, and you can actually taste the Macallan and Highland park influence. Overall: excellent value for money, one of the best budget sippers out there! PS. The black grouse is good too!
Of the blended scotch whiskeys this by far the best I have tasted. I will go so far as to say that this is blend is better than most single malts that I have encountered. I read a review earlier that said they would rather drink JW, (turpentine ), even the Blue. No taste buds at all.
