Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

What an awful whiskey. Barely tastes like a whiskey for a start. What you do taste is almost artificially sweet, and eventually sterile alcohol. No vanilla or taste of the casks, could have been aged in steel barrels based on taste. Never again.
I agree with the many of the other reviews that the Grouse has sadly gone down hill. I can only assume satisfying the supermarkets demand to flog it for £15 a litre has had an effect. A great shame.
From a community that enjoys whisky and places it on the table to celebrate occasion from births to weddings Grouse has been our No 1. Replacing Bells in the 60's and I am talking about UK wide. Since the introduction of the current blend, slowly and surely and alternative will be sourced as this blend is awful! in appearance (as a bottle of used cooking oil) and taste just as bad.
During many years The Famous Grouse has been my favourite among blended Scotch whiskies , but during the latest six months or so , the color , smell and taste has changed . The color is a little violet , the smell and taste has a touch of white spirit and chemical . I can drink it but without delight! So unless the Grouse returns to former qualities , I won´t buy it any more , sorry ! How could you decide to do so ???
Longtime grouse drinkers for an early evening tipple, we find the new grouse is just naff. We are currently searching desperately for the last old bottles on the shelves in shops near us. Bye-bye TFG, it was nice knowing you-suare as heck won't be drinking this new tat.
