    Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky

Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.

A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.

    Palate

Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.

    Finish

    A slightly sweet, malty finish.

    Overall

A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

Don’t ignore because it’s price. Complex and smooth.

Taste is obviously tuned to the receiver of the gift that is whiskey. So I understand that some will not like and some will. I fear however that Famous Grouse has succumbed to being looked down at by would be self announced whiskey experts. I for one think it’s a fine whiskey with a glorious nose. Very enjoyable as much as some of the good £40 bottles and a few north of that. Famous for a reason as it has stood the test of time and not solely because it’s cheap but because it’s tasty!

    Good

Ok some will love it some will hate it. I don't mind it, my typical tipple is a smokey peat bog ardbeg that's my go to. This being a blend from Speyside it doesn't have that smokey punch. The famous grouse I've grown up with my family have drank it for years it's a drink Cabinet staple that is always there for a wee night cap. Yes it's cheap but and yes its blended so don't compare it to a high end single malt. I enjoy it is nice easy going and pleasant to drink every now and then.

    Like paint stripper

Too harsh, literally like paint stripper. I’d much prefer paying a slight bit more for a much smoother Haig Club or Glenfiddich which are both very smooth tasting whiskies.

    Vile Whisky.

    Awful, just awful.

    Ok, balanced whisky.

Being a beginner in Whisk(e)y universe, I would consider this an ok drinkable whiskey. But for the prize, I would rather choose High Commissioner, Bell's or Grant's, wich are more lively. I want to try Famous Grouse Burbon cask or Ruby cask instead.
