Famous Grouse
Scotland
Blended
Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!
Slightly on the sweet side and not all that complex, but as a budget sipper to have neat I've never had better. This beats all others at a comparable price point hands down IMHO.
never drinking this again made me ill
First time I drank it was in Scotland Sept. 2019. I had never heard of it until then. I have to say it is the smoothest best tasting Scotch whiskey I have every drank.
Been drinking this for many years. I’ve had many brands of scotch over the years and this is by far one of the best. Don’t be a snob and think this is a low-grade scotch because it is not. Managed a club for many years and this was always top shelf.
Taste is obviously tuned to the receiver of the gift that is whiskey. So I understand that some will not like and some will. I fear however that Famous Grouse has succumbed to being looked down at by would be self announced whiskey experts. I for one think it’s a fine whiskey with a glorious nose. Very enjoyable as much as some of the good £40 bottles and a few north of that. Famous for a reason as it has stood the test of time and not solely because it’s cheap but because it’s tasty!
