Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

Just tried the New Famous Grouse; awfull tasted synthetic left the mouth feeling as I have just rinsed in mouth wash. Certainly wouldnt bye it again, (come back old grouse ). Only good was the first aroma when I opened the bottle. Big dissapointment ?
Great scotch for the money. I like it.
Gotta say I thought the original taste was perfection. New label is too smokey for me. Before it was a no brainer which blended whisky to select. Not guaranteed now.
The new taste of Famous Grouse tastes like all the other leading brands that I hate so I won't be buying F.G again, the end of an era, I have now found a supermarket brand that hasn't got that smokey taste and is close to the original F.G, John Carlo.
Personal tastes; It has a small malty tone, you can feel a hint of vanilla and a very fruity character with a small touch of honey and very little smoke - it also has a small oily "back-taste" which I personally didn't mind as much as my friend. Who should buy it; The reason its the most bought is because of its commercial appeal - its simply put the Bacardi among whiskeys. You can definitely pick one of these up for a party, but its simply not something id suggest that someone should buy to enjoy on a deeper level. It has a low price level and its made for the crowd, particularly your average college students. Works just fine as a mixer, coke and ice lays it down neatly. Cons; The bad parts are the simple and chemical / synthetic taste, the casks are barely present but it has a hint of oak.
