Famous Grouse
Scotland
Blended
Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!
Great uncomplicated any time sipper ?
Either the quality of this stuff is really unstable (they just toss in every left-over spirit they can get on the cheap) or most reviewers are just talking our of their butthole. I tried this about two years ago and found it to be just alcohol with some added color. It did not remotely taste like whisky (or anything else for that matter).
Been drinking this for many years. I’ve had many brands of scotch over the years and this is by far one of the best
I do enjoy my single malts, particularly the smoky ones from Islay. However, for my "everyday" scotch on a budget, the Grouse can't be beat IMHO. It has a smooth, honey-like texture with a soft pallet. Absolutely delicious. I get mine anywhere from $15.99- $17.99 a bottle (U.S.) depending where I shop and I love it. Easily as much as I do some of my single malts. So why pay more?
Smells like whisky. Tastes like whisky. Has a pleasant whisky aftertaste. Best selling whisky in Scotland. Best selling whisky UK. Good to drink neat, with ice or as a mixer. No weird smells or flavours. Highly unlikely to be refused when offered. Less than £20 for A LITRE in leading UK supermarkets. No silly, unnecessary box. What’s not to like? Possibly not for people obsessed with the words single-malt.
