Famous Grouse
Scotland
Blended
Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

Have not tried it yet. Hope to buy a bottle later this week. But I have a Famous Grouse clock hanging proudly in my family room.
With a splash of water. Young malt. Baked apples. Sweet. Anise seeds, bit of licorice. Soft sweet tangerines. Orange peels. Allspice. Cloves. Ginger. Bit floral. Peppermint. Cardamom. Chamomile. Cinnamon. Vanilla. Burnt caramel, in a good way. Big treacle. Unprocessed honey. All in all, well blended.
Absolutely fantastic!
What have they done to The Famous Grouse. I am a Single Malt Whisky drinker but occasionally will drink and enjoy a blend. I recently finished my last litre bottle of Famous Grouse which I first opened quite a while back. I thoroughly enjoyed this blend with the Highland Park and Macallan overtones. My recent purchase has left me thinking what am I drinking. Verdict - Not So Famous Grouse.
Smell is bitter alcohol. Took a few sips to get past the harsh alcohol that overpowers the flavour. Once I acclimatised I was getting slight smoke aftertaste. Palette had caramel, spice. I do like the mouthfeel of this dram, soft. Did leave my mouth and lips quite numb after few mouthfuls which was unpleasant.
