Famous Grouse
Scotland
Blended
Famous Grouse is one of the world's most popular blends, and the best-selling Scotch whisky in Scotland. This whisky is a nicely balanced, malty blend which was first made in 1896. It went on to be known as The Famous Grouse, with the name registered in 1905. Around eighty years later, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant. The blend represents great value for money, and it also works beautiful in whisky-based cocktails. Delicious.
A perennial favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike, Famous Grouse whisky is a superb blend with a great deal of character. Today, more than 2 million cases are sold annually, making it one of the most popular whiskies in the world.
A crisp, light nose offering up notes of toffee apples, hints of dried flowers and biscuity barley.
Balanced, biscuit-laden palate with a core of thick, creamy malt. Just a hint of spice and the vaguest whisper of smoke really bring a great deal of complexity.
A slightly sweet, malty finish.
A very malty, biscuity blend. It's easy to see why this is so popular in Scotland!

Just sampled tonight after years of other popular scotch whiskeys. Simply outstanding. Wish I'd discovered it 40 years ago. Thank you WEB Griffin de facto recommendation through "The Corps" series.
Some of the reviews are baffling! Nothing wrong with this blend, great value!
Delicious! Tried this in a blind taste test against Macallan, Glenfiddich, Johnnie Walker, and Oban. Without knowing the identity of any of them the Famous Grouse was the smoothest and tastiest. Nose is soft buttery malt, light apple and peach with some gentle smoke and wood, mouthfeel brings palate of mild malt, honey, faint vanilla and fruit with semi-sweet chocolate, oak and a heavy dose of graininess. It finishes with some slight bitter wood/chocolate notes and fading honey malt.
Smells like denatured alcohol. Tastes harsh and sour. Never tasted the old one but I will never buy this crap again. Even Jack Daniel's is better than this. Doesn't even blend good.
+ banana peels. chocolate truffles. velvety mouthfeel. good luck to Mr. Xxxxx below, and a happy New Year to all!
