Edradour

Single Malt
Another bottling of Edradour Ballechin Double Malt Double Cask, which, somewhat confusingly, considering the name, is a single malt! It's a combination of unpeated and peated whisky, drawn from two different types of cask - unpeated single malt aged in a sherry cask, and peated single malt aged in bourbon casks, specifically.
Coffee cake, cooked apples and a hint of baked earth spiciness.
Caramelised dates, more earthy smoke, strawberry bonbons, walnuts.
Subtly meaty malt grows on the finish.
Isn't as nice as the 10yo Benromach Sherry/Peated as it has lost some of its sherryness after 6 months but most definitely is not bland.
I bought this a few months ago and had some friends to stay over the weekend. We tried most of my single malts and this was the one they all wanted to try again...far from bland it's a really interesting mix of two distinctive malts
Bought a bottle of this as one of my Christmas malts. To say I was disappointed with it is a bit of an understatement. Based on previous Ballechin’s I’ve tasted I was expecting big things. To me it was neither one thing or the other, totally bland and lacking in any real character.
This is a superb little whisky that has really been well married together.Only opened last week, had a couple, decided to buy another this week.Totally bereft to find out it has sold out in the meantime. Will have to try to go sparingly(fat chance)
