This is a superbly rare Edradour from our Lost Bottlings Series - a range of whiskies which were bottled many years ago. These gems represent a bygone era of distillation, and this Edradour is no exception, having been distilled in 1968 and bottled in October 1995 after a 27 year maturation.
Rich notes of fruit loaf, vanilla and butter icing. This develops to offer up freshly sliced peaches and apricots.
Estery, fruity palate with boiled sweets and rich pastries. A hint of something slightly leathery too.
Malty, thick finish with a hint of wholemeal bread and baking spices.
A wonderful interplay between the musky, leathery notes and the rich, fruity esters.
I recently purchased this Lost Bottling Series of Edradour for a group tasting, please do not fall into the same trap. I would suggest the bottle was not lost but thrown away! Out of a group of 13 not one single person could get past the soap to taste any whisky, and all gave it a massive thumbs down. I am a big fan of Edradour, and usually make it to the distillery at least once a year. I am also a massive fan of the work the guys do at Master of Malt, but have no idea who's idea it was to bottle this and see fit to charge £265??????? Big thumbs down and unfortunately, put me off the Lost (or thrown away) bottling series.
