    Single Malt

    Edradour 10 Year Old (43%)

Edradour is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.

    Palate

Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds.

    Finish

    Spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.

    super duper stuff.

ive been a fan of edradour for a long time. its different to most in that its worm tubbed, and that can cause a marmite moment for some. agree mostly with mom, its a bit like rum fruitcake. smooth and rewarding but too easy to drink.

    tasteless

well what can I say about this bottling? I first had Edradour 10 about 8years ago and really liked it, it was very heavy in mouthfeel, sweet and full of fudge and toffee/caramel flavours. colour was a nice mid gold. Fast forward 8 years and when this arrived home I took it out of the tube and was faced with the darkest natural colour whisky Iv'e ever had in my life, it was the colour of coka cola! I thought it would be really deep in dried fruit flavours but sadly I was very disappointed. It has an excellent mouthfeel for a 40% abv, a fairly decent nose but I have to say almost zero flavour. I tried this over the next 4 weeks and finally gave up and binned it as I'm not going to drink something I'm not enjoying .I don't know whats changed but it's not for the better and will not buy again.

    Way overrated

Watered down maple syrup with some alcohol added. Avoid.

    Very nice drop

I am not really a fan of highland whiskies usually, but this one has won me over. It's smooth, dark, rich and goes down very (worryingly) easily. Highly recommended

It's like drinking a dark beer

So I read all these positive reviews and decided to get myself a bottle. I was quite disappointed. The Rum, Almonds, and alluring Vanilla sounded great. But I don't feel it really is a whisky. I won't say it doesn't taste nice, but I just miss the mouthfeel of a whisky. I can compare it with drinking a dark beer with a little more sweetness to it.
