A 31-year-old single grain Scotch whisky from the Dumbarton distillery, drawn from a single cask! This whisky was distilled in March 1987 and matured until it was bottled in August 2018 by Duncan Taylor as part of the Rare Auld Grain range. Just 200 bottles were produced.
Amalfi lemon, unripe banana and lychee at first. Among dusty malt and oaky vanilla, there's a suggestion of Sugar Puffs with milk.
Butterscotch, violet chocolate and clotted cream toffee provide a complex sweet opening that a sparkle of wood tannins and a malty undertone complement. Dry oakiness provides backbone while a hint of old leather books lingers.
Wood spice sparkles in the finish.
