A straightforward, nutty and malty single malt from Speyside, the Singleton of Dufftown was released to replace the Singleton of Auchroisk. It’s aged in a high proportion of European oak casks.
If you're looking to use this little stunner in a cocktail, then you could do a lot worse than making a classic Highball. Or how about a signature Singleton serve?
Reach for the Peach
45ml of The Singleton
30ml of peach iced tea
90ml of soda water
Optional: 2 dashes of absinthe
Build all ingredients in an ice-filled Highball glass, give it a good stir, and garnish with a twist of lemon zest.
Malty with cereal/barley sweetness, buttery toast, wood shavings, hay and walnut.
Orange zest spiciness perks up a malty core of nuts, oak and toffee, hints of cut grass.
Oaky, rich with good length, some fruit lingers.

Nice whisky. Rather thick! Haven't encountered that before... Thumbs up
Excellent drop smooth to be enjoyed slowly .
I had read quite a few positive reviews for this Scotch, and I love the price point, so I decided to give it a whirl. Maybe I've got a bottle from a bad batch, but my first impression was that it was a bit thin, uncomplicated, and generally lacking. That isn't to say it is bad, but it isn't 'good', simply 'ok'. It actually felt like a blend to me. Not a total loss, this bottle will be relegated to a 'house Scotch', assigned to the lower shelf with the likes of Grant's Family Reserve and Cutty Sark Prohibition (both of which I prefer to this), and offered to those less likely to know the difference.
Just nice. Doesn't pretend.
