The classic 12 year old blend from Dewars, this stuff is the successor to Dewar's "Double Aged" 12 Year Old - so named in reference to the additional six month marriage the whisky enjoys in oak after the initial maturation and blending. The practice is maintained despite the name change and the result is loads of flavour…
A heady note of juicy fruit and thick, creamy malt. Rather floral, and quite sweet with notes of toasted barley, almond and a tinge of honey.
The palate is perfectly poised with notes of barley malt, hot buttered toast, a little honey, and some aniseed spiciness.
A touch of smoke on the tail, alongside plenty of thick malt and sweetness.

This is the best blended scotch I have ever tried.
I just bought a gift set for 26.99 at an ABC store in Florida. It contained a 750ml bottle and two very nice Dewar's Old Fashion glasses. The is a very light blend that can stand just a splash soda or water. I usually drink Chivas 12 and 18 or JW black when having a blend which have more flavor. But I'm putting version of Dewars on my go to list.
I bought a 1.75l bottle at Costco, on sale. I usually buy Dewars White label, which is good whisky. The Ancestor 12, is fine whisky. I just finished the bottle last nite, and am enroute for a couple more. This whisky is so smooth, I just couldn't believe it. It has a very pleasant taste, with excellent aftertaste on the palate. I drink all scotch neat, as I enjoy the taste. I have found Glenlivit 12 to be excellent also. I have tried Cuttysark, and while I like it, it is too harsh for me. It does not compare to The Ancestor or Glenlivit.
This is a stunning blend, excellent balance, quite sweet, plenty of fruit with a bit of a honeycomb element I also get in Aberfeldy 12. The benefits from the double maturation are obvious as it is such a well rounded blend.
it is kind a great taste of agedmalt whisky i've rver tried. it is not a single but blended one ref to previous reviews. Therefore this is a 12 year aged whiskey which its taste is proper for whiskey lovers who accept long taste with smoked in barrels long. By the way, for the big boys, single malt whiskeys shoul not be drunk on the rocks, just add chilly water on your whiskey if you can not drink straight strong whiskey ;)
