A. D. Rattray acquired a bottle of Stronachie single malt which dated back to 1904. Using this, they tried to find a current day whisky that matched the flavour of the expression from the long closed distillery. They decided that whisky from the Benrinnes distillery in Speyside matched it very closely and have bottled some under the Stronachie name. This is a 10 year bottling.

Really like it very much. Given to me as a present. Very smooth.
Tried this last night for the first time. It's 43% and fine without water but add a drop and it's like drinking 40% honey and lemon. Very smooth with a long finish. I've already recommended it to some friends - something I rarely do.
Honey and citrus on the nose, followed with a Lovely malty sweetness on the palate. Almost tastes how a hot toddy does, but in straight whisky form.
Since I am a Benrinnes fan, I decided to give this a try. On the nose: nuts, cask, buttery biscuit. Palate: malt Finish: long, smooth finish, citus peel. After adding a few drops of water, green apples and a bit of pastry dough emerges.
a nice smooth sipping whisky..
