    Product details

    Deanston Virgin Oak

Deanston Virgin Oak is made with young whisky which has been finished in brand new oak casks from Kentucky. Always a pleasure to have Deanston single malt Scotch whisky around, as they are certified by the Organic Food Association and power their distillery using hydro energy, so you can always feel good about the delicious dram in your hand.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Fresh citrus, honeyed barley and a subtle hint of smoke.

    Palate

Toffee sweets pop up first, followed by a dollop of cream and oak notes.

    Finish

    Oak spices on the finish.

    Overall

Well made, the new oak doesn't take over the whisky at all, which is always a risk with these casks.

Sits well alongside the 12 yr old.....

    Reviews for Deanston Virgin Oak

I'll admit I'm a fan of the Deanston distillates having started with the 12, dallied with the Kentucky Cask and now the V.O. I was pleasantly surprised how close in profile this was to the matured 12 yr old. It holds the recognisable Deanston profile and delivers the usual integrity punch of strength, non-chill filtration and no colour, all of which are always embraced in a good Scotch. It's a worthy addition in any quality line up of NAS whiskies and won't disappoint from the first neck pour.

    Quite the accomplishment

Reminiscent of Mackmyra’s first Swedish oak releases, and believe me, that is high compliment.

Good bourbon notes from a scotch malt whisky

Love this one . Can't believe , like nosing a Wild Turkey 101 . Lots of bourbon notes on the palate and the prickly sensation on the tongue due to the virgin cask finish in 2nd maturation with a long finish.

    Smooth, and enjoyable

    Excellent, totally enjoyable.

The whisky equivalent of a good house wine

A smooth one - all sweet toffee and fruit with honey on the nose. Not especially complex, but a very pleasant drink.
