Here we have a 21 year old Deanston 1996 single malt, which has had an interesting maturation. It initially aged in bourbon cask before being treated to a finishing period in a Koval bourbon cask. It was bottled at 46% ABV in 2018 by Murray McDavid for the Benchmark series.
Fruity sweetness and toffee. Fresh apples, ripe banana and chewy sultanas.
Mango, vanilla, more toffee and gingerbread, with slightly nutty undertones.
A lingering finish with vanilla ice cream drizzled in toffee sauce.

An incredibly smooth whisky - sweet but not overpoweringly so. Managed to find this bottle on offer for well under the £120 mark that it's selling for at the time of writing and delighted to have nabbed it on the cheap. Would not be put off by the higher price if I bought again but may be more inclined to save for special occasions!
An underrated distillery producing some fine drams and this doesn’t disappoint. A fine independent bottling from Murray McDavid giving all the characteristics of an old Deanston....waxy oily fruity oooft!
