Deanston 12 Year Old typifies the citrusy, malty, honeyed, and waxy house style the distillery creates through its unique production process. The multi-award-winning single malt Scotch whisky is made from unpeated barley, sourced from the Scottish Highlands, and is bottled without chill-filtration or additional colour.
“It’s like a lawnmower has exploded in your mouth - it’s freshly cut grass, it’s sweet green fruits, it’s summer in a glass,” says master blender Julieann Fernandez.
Honeycomb, barley sugar, cut grass, and a touch of lemon oil.
Creamy vanilla, malt biscuits, and toasted oak with hints of nutmeg.
Lingering sweet citrus and spice.

A slightly briney smell, a bit reminiscent of brandy, but in a good way. Thickly full bodied, slightly sweet and rich. The malty tones are not too prominent, and the spirity burn manageable. For a 12 year old, and for this price, it's more flavourful and better integrated than most other single malts I can remember trying. Non chill filted and 46% make a huge difference. Definitely recommend
New bottle is much worse than before. Much dark colour (E150 or sherry cask influence?). The smell and taste is boring. Sorry to write it because I loved Deanston 12yo... RIP
A cracker at this price. I got citrus on the nose followed by a mild toffee. The palette is mildly spicy but rounded with a touch of salted caramel and a light wood. Finish is medium with a warming dark chocolate and biscuit note. There's more expensive whisky out there that doesn't even compare. Smooth and interesting without breaking the bank.
Got a bottle for xmas. It is suspiciously dark coloured. The nose and palate are more like grouse than my previous bottles of deanston 12. Perhaps just a dodgy batch.
Great neat !!!
