Dalwhinnie is the single malt distillery renowned for its great value, gentle whiskies. Full of sticky sweetness and a meaty body typical of worm tub distilleries, the Scotch made here was always a blender’s favourite but its own single malts shine too with their flawless, clean, crisp profile. Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old is a standout that has been Dal-winning its way into our hearts for some time now. The Highland single malt was aged in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and has just a smidge of smoke running through it to add depth. Delicious stuff.
Aromatic, toffee, fruit salad, lush nectarine, custard. Floral, apple blossom, honeysuckle. Apple peels, pear, touch of smoke.
Malty. Walnuts steeped in manuka honey with vanilla sponge. Gentle smoke weaves its way through the cereal with a touch of spice.
Long, malty, walnut, almond.

I apologise for my amateurish review but I'll say as I find. A delicate, smooth whisky. Extremely easy and pleasant to drink. No harsh surprises, no burning of the throat. Just a welcome warm tingle as you allow the liquid to gently slide down. Possible note of toffee ? Who knows ? Not me ! I know little of peats, bouquets or notes. But I know what I like, and I love this. And please, NO ICE !
Excellent malt whisky with the perfect amount of peat for my taste, if you're a peat head look elsewhere but if you want a smooth malty whisky with a bit of smoke and a long sweet finish this is a GREAT value!
Medium body. Quite classic character of Highland whisky, plus smoky palate. Satisfyingly to its finish.
I enjoyed a bottle of this for my 30th birthday with friends. I decided to pick this bottle because I'd heard it was on the sweeter end, isn't too complex flavour-wise, and I was sure that even the non-whiskey drinkers in the group would enjoy it. I'd say it's perfect for that, but actually I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was a medley of Grandma's most famous desserts (toffee, caramel, vanilla custard, walnut cake), followed by a brisk walk around her garden in the spring time. All together an enjoyable experience, and an excellent bottle to properly introduce whiskey drinking to your friends.
I tried this and did not trust the people that says this is for the birds, too bad they were right.. Very sweet with a long strong finish reminiscent of something much much cheaper. Found it completely disappointing and have tried much better whiskey or 20 or 30 less a bottle.
