Dalwhinnie is the single malt distillery renowned for its great value, gentle whiskies. Full of sticky sweetness and a meaty body typical of worm tub distilleries, the Scotch made here was always a blender’s favourite but its own single malts shine too with their flawless, clean, crisp profile. Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old is a standout that has been Dal-winning its way into our hearts for some time now. The Highland single malt was aged in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and has just a smidge of smoke running through it to add depth. Delicious stuff.
Aromatic, toffee, fruit salad, lush nectarine, custard. Floral, apple blossom, honeysuckle. Apple peels, pear, touch of smoke.
Malty. Walnuts steeped in manuka honey with vanilla sponge. Gentle smoke weaves its way through the cereal with a touch of spice.
Long, malty, walnut, almond.

This one seems like a watered-down Highland Park or BenRiach to me. It's okay, there's nothing wrong with it, just nothing terribly inspiring either. I say "watered down" but maybe it's just that there's *slightly* less peat. But I think it's still more peat than a Glenfiddich or a JW or a Hakushu. I'm weird, I like either a ton of peat (Islay) or just a waft; this one was slightly more than a waft, so ick. YMMV.
Let it sit in the glass for a bit if you're drinking neat. It's not the best scotch I've ever had but this is an excellent fruity scotch to enjoy. There is more alcohol than I expected on the nose but the amazing range of flavors makes up for that. It's soft to me overall and fruity and floral with a touch of honey suckle, vanilla and toffee. It has a warm finish, I wouldn't call it long however. Bottom line, this is a good scotch.
Simply delicious! An elegant, delicate, (would you hate me if I said) feminine palate. It begins sweet and honied then politely gives way to a nutty, spicy gingered fruit that lingers just long enough to introduce a whiff of smoke and peat that languishes on the finish. It is, "the gentle spirit". Just like a lady.
I first tried this in 2009 on a trip to Scotland and loved it. I even visited the distillery after tasting it at a bar. It was smooth enough to drink straight. I hadn't had any for a few years and bought some recently. It is definitely not the same drink. It is way harsher and I can't enjoy it without a little water. Makes me wonder what changed.
Simple with a clean finish. I expected something more interesting for the price. Not worth the $, but worth a taste.. once.
