A sextuple-wood bottling from Dalmore. This auspiciously-named single malt Scotch whisky was matured in wine, Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon and Port casks. King Alexander III is a rich, fruity Highland single malt.
Malty and utterly Dalmore. Seville orange zest, Parfait Amour, malty cereal, barley and chocolate. Creamy vanilla fudge, tropical fruit with a vaguely vinous quality.
Medium, rounded. Winter berries, spice, zesty orange. Liqueurs emerge; Grand Marnier, kirsch and Frangelico.
Peppery with well-integrated oak and the claret makes a last minute appearance.
This is my first review. Been buying whiskey for many years and have a few hundred bottles in my cellar. This is buy far the worst buy ever. Nearly no taste a glenmorangie 10 has more depth than this. Have had 12 and a 15 year old Dalmore that give a much deeper flavour profile. Worst buy ever. This is similar to blended whiskey not bad if you are going for that
Should have bought a cheap aged rum instead. For this price it should have been bottled at way more than 40%. There’s no punch in it at all. Very disappointed.
People, don’t you understand it? Fine aged liquor you open it , you drink it all and you do not cork it back. It just will not be the same. As in good dine… Alexander III IS ONE OF THOSE…
My bottle was delicious. Then I let it sit for a number of months with just a couple inches on the bottom. When I invited a friend for a dram it was no longer drinkable. Quite a disappointment that I have never had with another whiskey. The Canadian Dalmore rep said he would make me good but never did.
An incredibly smooth dram. Choclatey, sweet, peppery but so so smooth. Was bought this as a birthday present. Will save the remainder for close friends.
