Product details

Dalmore King Alexander III

A sextuple-wood bottling from Dalmore. This auspiciously-named single malt Scotch whisky was matured in wine, Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon and Port casks. King Alexander III is a rich, fruity Highland single malt.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Malty and utterly Dalmore. Seville orange zest, Parfait Amour, malty cereal, barley and chocolate. Creamy vanilla fudge, tropical fruit with a vaguely vinous quality.

Palate

Medium, rounded. Winter berries, spice, zesty orange. Liqueurs emerge; Grand Marnier, kirsch and Frangelico.

Finish

Peppery with well-integrated oak and the claret makes a last minute appearance.

    Always a treat

Simply a treasure. What a unique delightful taste this whisky has. One of my favourites in the collection.

    Awesome!!!

I never thought I'd like scotch whiskey but clearly I never had the right one. Absolutely adore this and it hits all the right notes for me. I would continue the review, but I'd just rather have another sip.

    Simply the best

I have had a number of whiskys in my time and I can safely say this is the best I have had. Sublime.

Possibly the best NAS whisky I have ever had

Now when I saw this particular bottle, I was curious, but I tend not to go for any whisky that crosses too far over that three figure threshold. £120 has very much been my upper limit for a single bottle, and at that price point I am expecting a decent age statement. However I got a new job back in September, and in the immortal words of Tom Haverford: "Treat yo' self!" so I bought myself a bottle. I managed to get it at a marginally more reasonable £152, but I was still acutely aware of how much money I had just spent on a NAS whisky. That was until the first dram passed my lips. Then that all melted away like the early morning frost on a cold winter's day, the perfect kind of day to sip one of these by the fire. Like most Dalmore offerings it has that almost creamy vanilla scent and that fruitiness that unerringly casts you back to thoughts of late autumn and winter. It is smooth and well rounded with that effortless balance of vanilla decadence and spice, married with that zesty fruit that dances on the tongue. This is that perfect nightcap before bed on Christmas Eve or that warming dram after an exhausting evening of trick or treating with your nieces. Yes, it's expensive and at this price point most of us will have a bit of caution or even buyers regret, no matter how good it is, but it is indeed a damn fine whisky and I feel like it might be the best NAS whisky I have ever had.

    Dalmore whiskey refined and smooth

Went to The Dalmore distillery just before. Lockdown tried it there .And got myself a bottle with the glasses case to match . Love this whisky to me its very refined and smooth will be buying again
